I Withdraw (poem)

I Withdraw

by Odimegwu Onwumere

There is no problem.
That you are for another man
does not make me a less man, either.
We are all fighting for an egalitarian world,
irrespective of religion, creed and tribe.

I might say I LOVE YOU
does not make me sleepless.
We do say, we love a book, house, clothes etc
when they appeal to us.

And you appeal to me,
that was why I said the other day,
that I love you.

But I didn't know that it registered
a sentiment in your heart,
that this man was advancing,
so you should tell him to cut his coat.

However, you are a kind,
and am a child.
I have this strong belief
that you will not treat me
with the adult gloves.

I withdraw.
