Jimmy Brown the newsboy Once upon a time, being a newspaperman (or woman) was something to stand up and shout about. Journalism was a noble occupation. Reporters and critics worked for peanuts but fought the good fight. The public loved us, believed us, hung on to every word of our investigative stories and critical analyses.

Some may say there are still a few left …. But anyway, read more of this story and hear the songs. Go to http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/lists/2009/05/ten-songs-about-print-journalism.html Enjoy.

ps. You may have to search for the song titles in YouTube ….

pps. Earl Scruggs, banjo legend, died on 29 March 2012 aged 88. RIP.
